The Texture Map component allows you to load or reference an existing map. If the image is in color, it will be converted to grayscale.

The Texture Map has 4 options:

  1. Custom Map
  2. Layer Map
  3. Library Asset
  4. Base Map

1. Custom Map

A custom map option allows you to load an image from your disk. If you already loaded a custom image in a texture map, you can view it in the “Select Image” dropdown. This way, you can quickly add multiple images and swap between them when needed. To reload an already loaded image, go to the Asset Manager and reload the image from there.

2. Layer Map

If the Layer Map option is selected, you can choose a map from an existing layer in your layer stack from the dropdowns.

3. Library Asset

The Library Asset option allows you to select a map of an asset directly from your Local Library. In this case, the asset does not need to be added to the layer stack to reference it. To select an asset, click on the “Browse Library” button, which will direct you to your Local Library. Once selected, choose a map to reference from the map dropdown.

4. Base Map

The Base Map option will allow you to reference a map loaded in your Base Layers. Base Layers can be viewed in the Texture Sets Editor.

Common Controls

This will normalize the greyscale values between 0 – 1.
  • Invert
    This will invert the map
  • Range
Use the multi-slider to define the range of your greyscale image. Image values that are outside of the range will be clamped to either 0 or 1.
